I'm still reeling from how the little girl with a hole in her throat has affected me. God is transforming my heart through this story and the ramifications are rocking my world.

She is affecting just about everything. I feel compelled to think of her when I'm making decisions. For example, we are currently looking for a place to live for the next few months. We found an apartment we liked, but it is going to stretch us financially. In the past, I would have seen the decision as the choice between our financial comfort vs. our physical comfort and would have chosen between the two.

But, now the only choice is to ask God what He wants for us. He is the only one who knows how we can best serve His Kingdom and in doing so, help that little girl. Our comfort is no longer the basis for my decisions.

Do you see the shift?

I don't think God is asking me to go Africa on some big excursion to find that specific girl. But, I know God wants to all of us to reach the broken, hurting, and lost people of this world, whether it is in Africa or next door. He wants us to help Him bring a little Heaven down to earth. He wants us to live with our eyes focused on the Kingdom of God.

I often forget that....

This is how it is starting for me.  This little girl's suffering has made me realize that I eagerly want to join God is His work for the Kingdom. Every aspect of my life needs to reflect this. I want to take part in all God has plan to heal the sick, love the lost, and help the brokenhearted. And it starts with the decisions I make.

What decisions are you making about your future? Are you making them in light of what God wants to do in you and through you? Do you actions reflect that God has a plan for you to bring a little Heaven down to earth right here and right now?

"Heal the sick who are there and tell them, 'The kingdom of God has come near to you." Luke 10:9
