When riding the train in England, you are greeted with the sign that says, “Mind the Gap“. It’s asking us to be mindful of the gap between the platform and the train.

Building Kingdom Dreams and launching this tour has helped me realize just how large the gap is between my abilities and what God is asking me to do. I keep hitting the same inadequacies over and over – the space between the platform and the train seems larger than it’s ever been.

I’m very mindful of this “gap”, my humanness screamed out, “QUIT”! I keep thinking I’m letting everyone down. In this place where all I can see is this large gap, God sent me little messages yesterday in the forms of flesh-covered Jesus’ who spoke the truth to me that it’s not all up to me like I think it is.

This morning, I read a blog from Jon Acuff about dreams. This part in particular spoke to me:

‘Never compare your beginning to someone else’s middle.

One of the great temptations for us as leaders and dreamers is to compare the start of our new adventures to the middle of someone else’s. You work on your first book and pick up Max Lucado’s 14th book and say, “Mine isn’t as good.” You post your first blog post and look at Michael Hyatt’s 100th and think, “Mine is nowhere near as great as that.” You give your first speech and watch Ken Robinson’s 1,000th at TED and think, “I’m not great like that.”

It’s true. You’re not. Yet.’

“YET” – What a hope-filled word…

As I was praying this morning, I felt God whispering to me, “DON’T mind the gap – I am the one who fills it.

What would you do if you didn’t have to worry about the “gap”? What would you try? What would you dream?

“For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known.” 1 Corinthians 13:12
